What is Chopta famous for?
Chopta is at the epicentre of the Panch Kedar – the five most sacred Shiva temples in the state. On its left are located Kedarnath and Madmaheshwar shrines and on the right, Rudranath and Kalpeshwar, and just above it, the Tungnath temple. Chopta[1] is a small region of trek and evergreen forest area, a part of himalayas wildlife sanctuary located in Uttarakhand state, India and a base for trekking to Tungnath, the third temple of Panch Kedar which lies 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) away.
The summer months mark the best time to visit Chopta,which spans between March and May as most trekking routes are open during this time. Also, the Chopta weather is cool and pleasing with moderate temperatures surrounded by lush greenery.
